The Seventh Son Movie

The Seventh Son (previously titled The Last Apprentice) is an upcoming fantasy movie directed by Sergei Bodrov (who helmed Mongol: The Rise of Genghis Khan) for Legendary Pictures. The film is a movie adaptation of The Last Apprentice, a series of novel written by Joseph Delaney. The story follows the seventh son of a seventh son as he learns how to exorcise ghosts, contain witches, and bind boggarts in the 1700s. The cast includes Jeff Bridges, Ben Barnes, Alicia Vikander and Julianne Moore. The release date of The Seventh Son is set for February 15, 2013.

Here below a video of the panel on The Seventh Son at the 2011 Comic Con:

Plot:
"For years, the local wizard (Jeff Bridges) has been keeping the County safe from evil. Now his time is coming to an end, but who will take over? Many apprentices have tried... Some floundered, some fled, some failed to stay alive. Just one boy is left. Thomas Ward (Ben Barnes). He is the last hope. But does he stand a chance against Mother Malkin (Julianne Moore), the most dangerous witch in the County?"

The story is actually based in part on the old folklore idea that the seventh son of a seventh son would have special powers (magic powers, healing powers or more)if he comes from an unbroken line with no female children born between, and be, in turn, born to such a seventh son.

Jeff Bridges and Ben Barnes as a master sorcerer and his apprentice in a dark fantasy movie set in the 1700s? Sounds tantalizing to me! Sign me up for The Seventh Son movie!

Anyway, stay tuned with us for more details about the Seventh Son.
